Department for Health, Social and Pension Policy and Economics

The Department for Health, Social and Pension Policy and Economics provides technical assistance and consulting services in the health and social care sectors as well as pension ones, focusing on the creation and sustainability of quality systems and services.

Expertise:

  • Policy and financing: Policy development, sector reforms, national and regional planning, legislation, monitoring and evaluation of systems and programmes, health and pension insurance (analysis, forecasts, cost assessments, design of benefits package and actuarial simulation), provider payment systems and public private partnerships

Department for Public Health and Epidemiology of Communicable Diseases

The Department for Public Health and Epidemiology of communicable Diseases focuses on development of evidence-based policies in public health and research and planning of interventions in the area of communicable diseases.

Expertise:

  • Capacity building: training courses in surveillance of HIV and sexually transmitted infections tailored to low-level, concentrated and generalised epidemics
  • Research: Design and implementation of cross-sectional studies using probabilistic sampling, design and implementation of HIV and STI surveillance surveys using time-location sampling and respondent-driven sampling, data analysis and interpretation, planning HIV and STI interventions and prevention and control programmes
  • Planning and evaluation of public health programmes: needs assessment in public health, setting up public health priorities, evaluation of HIV programmes, tobacco control

The Department for Health, Social and Pension Management provides technical assistance and consulting services in business administration and management as well in healthcare, social welfare and pension systems
